The KiXscripts Editor Product FAQ
Predecessor to the Admin Script Editor (ASE)

Why The New Product?
KiXscripts Editor has been updated and enhanced
for over its first two years. During that time we learned what is important
to you and what features have had the largest impact. To take the KiXscripts
Editor to the next level it seemed clear that a complete rewrite of the
application was in order. While language support has been expanded, nothing has
been taken away in terms of an editor perfectly suited for the KiXtart scripting
language. We have integrated COM support, redesigned the EXE packager with
additional security features and updated the entire interface - and that is just
for starters! Please have a look at our feature

It should also be noted that ASE is licensed "Per
Seat", where as KiXscripts Editor was licensed "Per User". This means a
license is now required for each computer where ASE will be installed,
but an unlimited number of people may utilize it on those registered
systems. No Site license program is currently available although volume
discounts do apply. For more details on licensing, please

Why Do I Have To Pay?
KiXscripts Editor has been updated regularly
over the last couple of years and all updates have been made available free of
charge. While it is not only customary for a full
version release to require an upgrade, the Admin Script Editor is in fact a complete
rewrite of the KiXscripts Editor (and a far more capable scripting tool). While most all of the functionality that made
the KiXscripts Editor popular has been ported to this new release, it has been enhanced

How Can I Upgrade?
Technically speaking, ASE is a replacement product for the discontinued
KiXscripts Editor. Registered owners were entitled to a special
50% discount on the price of Admin Script Editor from the date of its release in
June 2004 through the first of November 2004. Multiple notices went out in an
effort to provide everyone the opportunity to take advantage of the discount.
However, this discount has since expired and a discount to owners of KiXscripts
Editor is no longer available.
What If I Don't Want To Move
Up To ASE?
You don't have to! The KiXscripts Editor is a
fine editor and may well suit your needs as is. Of primary interest to most
users is the redesigned ScriptPackager™
which boasts a new secure implementation, even providing the ability to run
under specified account credentials. See the
feature list to consider if an upgrade is right for you, we think you will
be pleased with the enhancements now available to you.
What Support Is Provided For the KiXscripts
Editor?
If you have a problem with the KiXscripts Editor, we will be
happy to try to help using our online forums located
here. However, please understand this
product has not received any development in several years and no updates, fixes
or enhancements will be made to this older release. ASE is several evolutionary
steps ahead of this entry level editor. Please

What New Features Will Be Added to the
KiXscripts Editor?
None. As has been the case over the last few
years, all further
development will continue to be focused on the new Admin Script Editor.
