Home > The Admin Script Editor (ASE) > New in ASE 3.0

Note: ASE now comes in three editions: Standard, Professional and Enterprise (click here to compare editions)

Amazing New Wizards!
- Now you can browse WMI classes, database tables, XML file structures and ADSI objects to simply choose what items you wish to work with and code is automatically generated in PowerShell, VBScript, KiXtart or AutoIt! With the same ease of use you are accustomed to with the ASE WMI Wizard, you can now use new wizards to select fields from tables, paths from XML files or properties from any ADSI object and generate code instantly!

ScriptForm Designer™
- Never seen in any scripting product before, this simple designer for easily creating custom dialogs and complex forms will make your script difficult to distinguish from a full application! Using the free KiXforms DLL, you can take advantage of even its most complex controls with this simple drag and drop designer. Need to make a change? The ScriptForm Designer will reload your form from your script for easy editing. Already supported by both VBScript and KiXtart, PowerShell support is coming soon!

ScriptPackager™
- The ScriptPackager has been enhanced to provide for the optional automatic registration of COM components included in a packaged script. You can now optionally include the KiXtart or AutoIt interpreters in the additional files of a package script with the simple check of a box. You even have the ability to have packaged script output directed to the current console window and you can now rename packaged script to <name>_debug.exe to have the error level presented in dialog box for troubleshooting purposes.

Active Debugger
- ASE now features a powerful script debugger for VBScript, integrated within the ASE scripting environment. View locals, script output and the call stack. Even watch desired variable values. With the ASE VBScript Active Debugger tracking down problems in your scripts just got a whole lot easier!

ScriptBits™
- The ScriptBits feature of ASE has been overhauled to provide a much more robust solution for the management of reusable code segments. ScriptBits can now be browsed in a folder hierarchy right within a script document and there is support for the inclusion of fields that can be used to add even more control and functionality to this time-saving feature.

Amazing Customization Options -
ASE 3 introduces Ridiculous Level of Customization (RLoC) support which lets you modify most every visual aspect of this Integrated Scripting Environment. Customize tool bars, shortcuts, windows and more. Change between two sets of available icons for toolbars and even change the size of the toolbar icons. Control how windows slide open, specify how menus should appear, and more. The colors used by ASE may be chosen from number of built in themes or you ASE can follow your current Windows desktop theme. You can even add your own tools to the toolbar and menu!

Logon Script Builder™
- This innovative new tool allows you to create and use code templates to easily create drag and drop script projects which generate language-appropriate script code. Now advanced users can share script functions with people who do not know how to write script code of their own! Now users with limited scripting skills can create scripts without knowing little knowledge of scripting!

ScriptDeploy™
- Push scripts to users over the network without the need to install a client agent. Results are returned to the console and success and failure ratios are displayed to track your success. Target users or computers with this simple deployment tool!

Plus a whole lot more...

  • ASE 3 adds PowerShell support! You will enjoy full ScriptSense support and integrated keyword help. Don't have PowerShell installed? ASE will help you download it. Don't have your execution policy configured to allow script files? ASE handles this as well!
  • ScriptCompare™ lets you visually compare the contents of two files with easy to read color indicators to illustrate differences
  • Script Output now appears in its own tab within the output window so you can see the results of recently executed scripts. You can control how many output tabs are created before they overwrite and how many lines of output will be displayed. Save and print options have also been added.

Customization options further allow you to create shortcuts or toolbar items to these tools for further integration.
  • Powerful Script Explorer lets you manage scripts easily and features the ability to add folders as favorites for easy access to the places you store your scripts.
